  • No. After a windshield replacement, the vehicle must remain stationary until the adhesive reaches its Safe Drive-Away Time (SDAT). SDAT is the minimum amount of time required for the windshield urethane to properly cure and safely retain the glass in the event of a collision or airbag deployment.

    Safe Drive-Away Time can vary based on several factors, including:

    • Ambient temperature and humidity

    • Vehicle make, model, and design

    • Airbag configuration

    • Installation conditions and materials used

    For this reason, SDAT is not the same for every vehicle or situation. Your OptiClear Auto Glass technician will determine and clearly communicate the proper wait time at the time of service based on manufacturer guidelines and safety standards.

    Driving the vehicle before SDAT has been reached can compromise windshield retention and occupant safety. We recommend following your technician’s instructions closely to ensure the installation performs as intended.
