OEM vs OEE Glass Policy

Effective Date: February 16th, 2026

1. Purpose of This Policy

OptiClear Auto Glass LLC is committed to providing safe, high-quality auto glass repair and replacement services while maintaining transparency with our customers regarding glass options, insurance coverage, and pricing.

This policy explains the difference between OEM and OEE auto glass and outlines how glass selection is determined.

2. Definitions

OEM (Original Equipment Manufacturer) Glass

OEM auto glass:

  • Is produced by the same manufacturer that supplied the glass when the vehicle was originally built

  • Meets the vehicle manufacturer’s exact specifications

  • Includes the vehicle manufacturer’s logo (when applicable)

  • Is sourced through authorized distributors such as PGW and other OEM supply channels

OEM glass does not require dealership purchase or installation.

OEE (Original Equipment Equivalent) Glass

OEE auto glass:

  • Is produced by an aftermarket manufacturer

  • Meets federal safety standards (FMVSS)

  • Is designed to match the fit, form, and function of OEM glass

  • Does not include the vehicle manufacturer’s logo

3. Glass Selection & Insurance Coverage

Insurance-Covered Claims

  • Most insurance policies default to OEE glass unless OEM coverage is specifically included in the policy.

  • If a customer requests OEM glass and their insurance policy does not cover OEM:

    • The customer may choose to pay the price difference between OEE and OEM.

  • OptiClear Auto Glass does not misrepresent glass type to insurers.

Coverage and reimbursement are determined solely by the insurance provider.

Customer-Paid (Direct Pay) Services

  • Customers may choose OEM or OEE glass regardless of insurance involvement.

  • Pricing will be disclosed prior to installation.

  • Final glass selection must be approved by the customer before service.

4. ADAS & Advanced Vehicle Considerations

Certain vehicles equipped with:

  • Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS)

  • Heads-Up Displays (HUD)

  • Acoustic or heated windshields

  • Lane-departure cameras or rain/light sensors

may require OEM glass to ensure proper fitment and system performance.

OptiClear Auto Glass will recommend OEM glass when it is determined to be the safest or most appropriate option for the vehicle.

5. Transparency & Customer Approval

Before any glass replacement:

  • Customers will be informed whether OEM or OEE glass is being used

  • Any applicable deductible or out-of-pocket cost will be disclosed

  • Written or recorded approval will be obtained

No substitutions will be made without customer consent.

6. Compliance & Ethics

OptiClear Auto Glass LLC:

  • Accurately invoices glass type (OEM vs OEE)

  • Maintains documentation for all OEM installations

  • Complies with all insurance, state, and federal regulations

  • Does not waive or rebate insurance deductibles

Misrepresentation of glass type is not permitted under any circumstances.

7. Customer Right to Choose

Customers have the legal right to choose:

  • Their auto glass repair facility

  • OEM or OEE glass (subject to policy coverage)

OptiClear Auto Glass will advocate for customer choice while remaining compliant with insurance requirements.
